Schedoni is a tiny, Italian leather crafting company that has been family owned for more than
100 years. Its first products were shoes, each pair made to order and lovingly fashioned by hand.
PUMA is a not so tiny, publicly held, ginormous sized company thats been around for about 50
years. It also makes shoes. Over 60 millions pair a year.
Needless to say, they use machines to help with the work load. It would seem these two concerns
have little in common. Except shoes. And now, they will produce them together.
As one of the top selling brands of sport shoes in the world, theres little new we can tell you about
PUMA. You may not be familiar with Schedoni, but youve seen its products. Watch any F1 telecast,
and notice the little black leather helmet pad right Felipe and Kimis heads. Yup, Schedoni makes
them. If you buy a Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, or Audi and order the optional fitted luggage,
it too is crafted by Schedoni. Schedoni purses sell for $1000 and up at Neiman Marcus, and if you
need an Italian leather golf bag or a Kevlar lined, bomb resistant briefcase like the Italian secret
service uses, Schedoni can fix you up with those too. This amazing boutique business is based in
Modena, Italy, home of exotic cars, real parmesan cheese, and balsamic vinegar as precious as
vintage wine.
The CEO of PUMA was so taken with the nature and products of Schedoni that he felt the two should
joint venture on a project. The result is PUMA by Schedoni, a superb line of custom made footwear
and accessories that is launching this month. Expect the F1 and movie star car types to be wearing
them.
One line is called Autodromo. These are crafted of cuoio bottalato leather in the trademark
Schedoni color, a deep golden tan. The design is similar to the PUMA motorsport style, and
each pair is personalized, with the owners initials branded into the leather. Nice.
The second line is much more bespoke. Customers get to play with around with a shoe building
"Puzzle Kit" which allows them to choose from a wide variety of leather colors for both the outer
leather, and a contrasting leather color that shoes through the familiar puma shoes logo in the
side of the shoe. No more than 500 of each combination will be made, and each again numbered
and personalized. Also nice. And really expensive. There are also some fabulous leather kit bags
available for your shoes or whatever.
Not only are the products divine, but its interesting that these two diverse companies saw fit to
get together to conceive and produce them. Youll see puma shoes by Schedonis soon, working
the pedals in the worlds most exotic footwells. www.bellbestpuma.com
